Mayor John Williams and Clerk Carrie Anderson met with House of Representatives Dick Lowe from District 56 and Brad Boles from District 51 as well as the ASCOG team from Duncan at the ASCOG Reap Grant Contract signing where the Town of Alex was Awarded the 2026 Reap grant for $75,0000 to cover the cost of the lift station repair, pump upgrade and electrical upgrades to the system. The Town of Alex was also awarded the DEQ/ORWA Rural Infrastructure grant in the amount of $68,000 for the lift station and a new utility billing system to be implemented in the up coming months. The new system will allow for utility customers to log in and view their accounts. Users will also be able to pay bills online efficiently and securely.

In 2025 The Town of Alex received a reap grant from ASCOG in the amount of $45,000 to replace the valves to quadrant the town to lessen the number of customers affected during water outage situations. This strategic initiative is expected to enhance the water system's resilience and efficiency significantly. Please be patient as we continue to repair and replace shut off valves throughout our water system to minimize service interruptions and ensure reliable water distribution.

The Town is very thankful for these organizations and the representatives that make these grant opportunities possible. Without such programs towns like ours would just continue to deteriorate without the necessary resources to improve infrastructure. Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Oklahoma Rural Water Association(ORWA), Association of South Central Oklahoma Governments (ASCOG) and other organizations play vital roles in providing support and education to address these challenges.
